AuthorAZ vs Scrivener: Two Different Writing Desks
Scrivener is a desktop writing environment built for structuring a long manuscript. AuthorAZ writes too—version 2 added chapters, dictation and export—but it is a phone-and-tablet vault that also carries the metadata, covers, quotes and backups a book needs once it exists. AuthorAZ does not try to match Scrivener’s binder, corkboard or compile, and this page is not an argument that it should.

A practical pairing
Plenty of authors will use both. Structure and compile a long manuscript in Scrivener at the desk; write or dictate the chapter that arrives on a train in AuthorAZ, and export it as DOCX when you get home. Either way the finalized blurb, ISBN, retailer links, cover variants, quote bank, reviews and share-ready social assets live in AuthorAZ, alongside a read-only snapshot of the finished manuscript for local search and listening.
